Let's Process: My Ideal Creative Time
A glimpse into how my creative practice flourishes in the quiet mornings
I have to admit, artists are my favorite people to talk to.
We can commiserate over the creative process, chat about what works for us, how to lean into our flow, gush over art supplies, share techniques… I could go on and on.
I personally feel such a relief when I can relate to someone who just gets what it’s like to live with a creative brain.
And to be honest, I also know that we all have that part of us, it’s just that not everyone can/is willing to let it come forth.
It can be a lonely place sometimes, often working solo at home or in a studio, with no coworkers, so getting out to be with another who can understand it is just beautiful.
When I get a chance to chat with some artsy friends, I often ask things like:
What are you working on right now?
Tried any new supplies lately?
Did you read____ yet??
What’s something you’re excited about?
I think there’s such beauty in sharing inspiration we have with others because that energy is shared directly with us, so if our friends are inspired, it’s contagious!
Recently I had some convos with some “non artsy folks” and one of them asked me, “what your ideal creative scenario?”
GASP.
I get to think and even say aloud what my creative practice could ideally look like to create my best and most profound work?! Let’s get into it, kind sir.
